From: Newark Street Guide 1872 The Broad Street line has its depot at Clinton and Elizabeth Avenues, in the southern part of the city, and the cars are identified by their red body and red signal lights. Starting at 5:15 in the morning, they run northward to Woodside till midnight via Clinton Avenue, Broad Street, and Belleville Avenue, making about 140 trips a day. During the route they pass Lincoln Park, the City Hall, the Newark and New York Depot, the principal banks, insurance offices, churches, stores, Centre Market, Military Park, Washington Park, Morris and Essex Railroad Depot near the Paterson Depot and past the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
